Safety day at Munich Rowing Club (MRC 1880)
(2017-07-03 22:10:04) On July 1st, about 80 rowers joined local rescue teams of German DLRG and Wasserwacht in order to train for emergencies. Each participant went though four stations, starting with a general introduction in rowing, local water conditions and rescue operations. It turned out to be quite worthwhile to intensively exchange information by having both rowers and rescuers teach each other.

This was followed by a lesson on safety garment of rowers and professional rescue equipment, which was available for testing. After this, an introductory training allowed to gain insights on opportunities of professional rescue boats as well as trainer boats in case of emergency. There was plenty opportunity to practice, as last, but not least, various boats were used to simulate emergency situations of many kinds. You might want to check out the linked video in order to get an impression of this very successful day:

We will be working ourselves now through gigabytes of photos and videos in order to share selected material for training purposes. Stay tuned at www.MRC1880.de.

Thanks go out to our friends of DLRG and Wasserwacht for helping us making this happen!
