Geirangerfjord heisst nur das letzte Stück dieses Fjordsystems. Hier ist aber das gesamte Fjordgebiet südlich von Alesund gemeint. Nur mit gedeckten E- und D-Booten, besser Seegigs rudern. Gefährliche Fallwinde ab 14/15 Uhr sind normal. Also früh aufstehen und besondere Vorsicht an Fjordkreuzungen. Ein kleiner Nebenarm, oder ein Taleinschnitt kann die Weiterfahrt unmöglich machen. Der Landdienst hat nur begrenzt Möglichkeiten die Mannschaft aufzusammeln und es kann sein das der Landdienst für 20km Ruderstrecke 100km fahren muss.
