Die Hase ist ein in Ost-West-Richtung verlaufender Fluss mit schwacher bis mittlerer Strömung, von Osnabrück kommend und in Meppen in den Dortmund-Ems-Kanal mündent.
Landschaftlich auf den letzten 15 bis 20 km zum Teil sehr schön; empfehlenswert bei einer längeren Tour ist eine Übernachtung (Zelt oder Campingplatz) auf Höhe Haselünne am Wacholderhain (Achtung: Naturschutzgebiet!). An der Flussmündung am Dortmund-Ems-Kanal (Km 166) liegt rechter Hand das Bootshaus des Wassersportverein Meppen. Hier sind Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten (Zelt, LuMa und begrenzt Betten) vorhanden.
